Congratulations to the 2001
Fernley Vaqueros, They are the new 2001 AAA Nevada State Champions. Fernley
beat the Moapa Valley Pirates 10-4 in the first round. They then beat the
Bishop Manogue Miners 7-5 in the next round and then beat them again in the
championship game 2-1. |
 | Fernley High School is
located 30 miles east of Reno, Nevada with an enrollment of 675 students.

 | The Fernley Varsity is coached by Head
Coach Cory Sandberg.

 | The Fernley Junior
Varsity is coached by Head Coach Brian
O'Neill.

 | The Vaqueros compete in the AAA
Northern Division. League opponents are Bishop Manogue, Dayton, North Tahoe,
Right Of Passage, Spring Creek, Truckee, Lowry, and
Yerington.

 | The 2001 Fernely
Vaqueros finished the season with 27 wins and 10 losses. The Vaqueros
finished with a league record of 13 - 3 good for a second place tie with
Lowry. The Vaqueros went on to finish in second place at the Northern AAA
Zone Championships. With the second place seed they went on to win the AAA
Nevada State title defeating the Bishop Manogue Miners 2-1 in the
championship game.

 | In 2000 the Vaqueros
finished the season with 31 wins and 9 losses. The Fernley Vaqueros finished
the record setting year by finishing in second place at the Nevada State
Tournament. Fernley won the league with a 9-1 record and went on to win the
zone tournament as well.

 | In 1999 the Vaqueros won 25 and lost
8, finishing in second place one game out of first place.

 | In 1998 the Vaqueros were won 21 and
lost 16, finishing in first place.
