Career Changed Puppies 1997

Charade

This big boy is pure Lab - filled with solid gold love and joy. Now working as a therapy dog at the Carson-Tahoe Hospital Rehabilitation unit, Charade brings a big smile to the face of everyone he meets. Charade was raised by Sandy Arnn.

Dolby

All the guide dog puppies in Carson City have a wonderful pal at the school district administration office. In fact, he occupies the office of the assistant superintendent of curriculum. His place happens to be under the desk, but he is considered an extra-ordinary employee. If it be true that some relationships are made in heaven, then the union of Dolby and Dorothy was made above the clouds. Career changed Dolby might not have liked heavy city traffic, yet as a therapy dog to people who need his special comfort and joy, he is at the head of his class.

Gary

Career changed guide dog puppy Gary would have made an outstanding guide if only he lived in a totally human world. Unfortunately, Gary was highly distracted by other dogs and other animals (horses, sheep, cats, camels) for that matter. Today, Gary lives with a very loving couple in Oakland, CA. He enjoys the ocean, walks around Lake Merrit and just being the center of attention.

In his spare time, Gary has attended vet technical classes with his mother. This is the soft, sensitive side of Gary. He participates in the class as a demo-dog. Here he is standing patiently as students practice bandaging. By the end of this session, all four of his legs were wrapped - with different colored bandages.

Sharla

To her friends she is affectionately known as Miss Sharla. She is a true lady: Dignified, graceful, loving and assertive. In the arms of her raiser Nicole Scudder, Sharla is very happy to be back home. Too bad for Guide Dogs. While in training, Sharla developed severe skin allergies. Despite the best medicine, the condition got worse. Yet within weeks back home, her rashes were completely gone. Maybe it has to do with Carson City's 4,500 ft elevation and very low humidity. Or, maybe it just has to do with Sharla being home were she belongs.
